When you have your business idea forming, it is good to get some of it out on paper, even virtual paper is good.
Many will say you need a business plan. There are many templates out there for you to start from, but having even your plan written in shorthand scribble on one page can help you address things you might not have thought of and will help you make tiny jumps out of larger hurdles.
Think of it as a resume for your business that you'll take to people for funding, credit with vendors, potential partners, and a variety of other things.
Things you may want to include would be a statement about what your company is and/or does, a mission statement, how you plan to structure your employees (if you plan to have them), customers that would be helped and/or interested in what your business does, financial plans, how much your company will need for start-up, and growth over the next year, analysis of your target demographics, your competition, how you would promote your business, skills that you have that will make it a success, and other items that will make it look like you've put thought into it. Heart and soul will get you far, but thought will speak volumes as well.
