‘City of Dreams’ : Is it a reality TV show game changer?
Are reality TV shows worth the watch? From Real Housewives to Hoarders, people want something entertaining to watch. If viewers are not entertained, a reality show won’t last and viewers won’t set aside time every week to watch the reality shows.
If you are tired of reading books at your local bookstore and looking for something interesting to watch as favorite series like Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder take a break, you have a fix with reality TV shows and there is a new reality show making waves with female talents, including former actress & miss Panama Liza Hernandez leading the non-scripted drama, but there is something unique about this show. The element of reality shows exploiting old gossip and controversy is simple not there.
The reality show ‘City of Dreams’ instead focuses on water cooler conversations centered on drama and dreams. Who knew drama and dreams could be in a reality TV show? The ‘City of Dreams’ show highlights LA’s new class of entertainers, including singers, actresses and models. Each of the cast members have a distinct fan base and platform as viewers witness their struggles to super-stardom unfold in a city where dreams come a dime a dozen. In some ways it reminds me of the television show ‘The Voice’, which people sing live to follow their dream to become a superstar, but this show is more of a behind the scenes of dream seekers and people want to watch more because it is interesting to look at the trials of becoming America’s new darlings. There is just something about watching the human experience as people go in pursuit of happiness, something once known as the American Dream.
The ‘City of Dreams’ is real to viewers because people understand how a beautiful dream can make one driven and ambitious than any other human experience. On the show former Miss Panama Liza Hernandez found herself the focus of tabloid fodder and notable celebrity romances which made her experience highs and lows, but she chooses to better her life by thinking positive, rebuilding her life and acting career. I have never seen a reality show which shows people never to give up on their dreams like that. People are curious about what will it take for the pageant winner to achieve her goals in a male-dominated industry.
