Here is the living room. We discovered zebra striped floors of walnut and cherry under the grungy carpet. We tried to removed the dropped ceiling so we could have nice tall ceilings but discovered exposed plumbing so the ceiling got drywalled and can lights added. And the 70's wallpaper is all gone! Waiting on a new chaise sectional, rug and some art on the walls and the room will be complete.

Hudson Street main bath. The washer/dryer were moved to the basement so a walk in shower could be put on the main floor...

I know it's been a while since I've posted. We've been moving in and dealing with a steady flow of challenges. So this happened this morning after I flushed the main floor toilet. What you dont see on the video clip is the water that shot straight up out of the bowl or the language that came out if no where (sorry mom). So what do you think? Poltergeist or plumbing issue?

So the porch project quickly went from bad to worse. Once a few floor boards were removed, we discovered the floor joists went the wrong way which is what caused a part of the severe sagging. My budget took the first hit at having to replace the entire floor. One end got jacked up 8" and the other end 4". Notice I said the first hit?? The second hit came when they got up on the roof to repair the damage caused by the tree. The previous homeowner patch wasn't good enough and so much water had gotten in there that all the rafters were rotted and looks like a little fire may have sparked in there. Bonus surprise was what appeared to be a small racoon being evicted from the premises! There will soon be a COMPLETELY new porch on Dutch! And look at the pretty new cleared out front yard! Cal got the 2 tree stumps out and graded it all to keep the water away - thanks Cal!

Rehabbing a house is not for the feint of heart. What was supposed to be replacing a rotted front beam and shoring up the slanted floor turned into a full porch demo! If you've never seen a diamond pier system done it's pretty cool. Instead of digging down into the ground under the beams to put a sono tube and and filling it with a ridiculous amount of cement, you attach the now new posts to a cement pad and using a jackhammer, hammer 4 metal bars to stabilize it underground so the frost can't push it around. Shout out to Marmes Construction on rebuilding the porch using this building inspector approved method!
