BIG NEWS! As our family prepares to welcome a new baby this fall, I wanted to share a few important scheduling updates for the remainder of the year. I plan to be out of the office on maternity leave beginning September 21, 2026.

To help ensure current matters are completed before my leave:
• Last call for new probate matters is June 1
• Last call for new estate planning matters is August 1

If you have been thinking about getting your estate plan in place or need assistance with a probate matter, I encourage you to reach out sooner rather than later so we can get you scheduled before the fall.

Thank you all for your continued support of my practice and my family during this exciting time!

One of the most overlooked (but incredibly important) parts of estate planning is simply knowing where everything is.

To help with that, I give all of my clients something called a Personal Data Collection Form. I carefully designed this form myself, creating a simple, organized worksheet designed to keep all of your essential information in one place—things like:

• Financial accounts and assets
• Insurance policies
• Important contacts
• Digital account information
• Attorneys, advisors, and key documents

If something ever happens, your family shouldn’t have to spend weeks trying to piece everything together.

I’m offering this form as a free resource to anyone who would like a copy. If you’d like me to send it to you, just comment or message me and I’m happy to share it.

Sometimes estate planning work looks less like signing fancy documents and more like digging through history… and I love when it does!

This week I spent some time at the Wilkes County courthouse pulling an 80 year old deed and sifting through 50 year old probate files to help a family untangle property that’s been passed down for generations without the paperwork keeping up.

My favorite part was the friendly pup working in the clerk’s office who kept me company in the file room 🐶

So grateful for kind client feedback like this.
Estate planning can feel overwhelming, and my goal is always to make the process smooth, thoughtful, and manageable.

Thank you to this wonderful family for trusting me with something so important!

As 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on my very first year in business.

When I opened my estate planning practice, I had been told a part time practice was impossible and honestly didn’t know what to expect. What I didn’t anticipate was how many wonderful people I would get to meet in the process, and how much joy giving others peace of mind would bring me.

Thank you to my clients for inviting me into your lives and trusting me with some of life’s most important decisions. That’s something I don’t take lightly. To my referral partners, friends, family, and this community: thank you for your encouragement, support, and for spreading the word!

I’m so grateful for how this year unfolded and excited to continue serving this community in the year ahead. If estate planning is on your to-do list in the new year, let’s chat soon!

Touching on a hot (but important) topic today! 🔥🫣

I get TONS of questions about revocable trusts and have realized there are a lot of misconceptions about what they do and don’t accomplish. There are some scenarios where a revocable trust makes sense. For example, if a family member is diagnosed with dementia and knows they will need help managing assets on a long-term basis, a revocable trust provides a streamlined way to manage assets rather than relying on a power of attorney.

However, most of the time, a revocable trust just isn’t necessary and makes estate planning much more complicated and expensive than it needs to be. As an estate planning attorney, I don’t have a revocable trust and I haven’t recommended one for any of my family members.

Please reach out if you have questions about what makes the most sense for your family - I’d love to chat!

After the death of a family member or friend, the last thing you need is added stress or more items on your to do list.

While most aspects of the probate process do not require the assistance of an attorney, I routinely assist clients with preparing probate petitions, understanding their role as executor and carrying out the instructions in a loved one’s Will. I am happy to tailor my services to your needs and preferences - whether that means handling everything or simply answering questions as you complete probate paperwork yourself. Please reach out if you have any questions about probate or estate/trust administration!
