Last night J Street U held a discussion in partnership with Bates Hillel to explore the relationship between the themes of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot and the impending demolition of the Palestinian village of Susya. We from the demolition of Susya and we call upon the leaders of the American Jewish community to take a stance against it as settlement expansion is an inhibitor to peace and a two-state solution. Every person deserves to dwell in a safe home.

"Hassin Alsheikh, a negotiator on the Fatah team, told Haaretz that the Palestinian Authority will take responsibility for the reconstruction of the Strip as well as for manning the Gaza crossings "effective immediately."

He added that Hamas also agreed to support Palestinian President Abbas' plan for establishing a state within the '67 borders."

Our very own Eliza Kaplan made it into Haaretz, on a Birthright extension tour in the West Bank. Read about her, and several other J Street U students', experiences and their thoughts on Zionism, the occupation, and what it means to be an American Jew connected to Israel:

"They joined the Extend tour because they wanted to know more and see more. Some of them said that the five days in the West Bank actually made them more involved and more caring Jews. Almost all of them disagree with the prevailing view that you can’t be considered a friend of Israel and be concerned about the country’s future and wellbeing, and at the same time be critical of its policies."
