I had a blast chatting with Sigalle Barness, host of the from ! Sigalle and her team had an awesome set up at the Annual Education Conference. It’s tough podcasting on the go, in the middle of a crowded exhibition hall, so bravo for the great job.

The NALP Annual Education Conference 2023 has begun! Over 1,400 law firm, law school, in-house legal department, and consulting professionals have descended on Vancouver, BC to engage and inspire each other and guide the future of the legal profession.

The conference kicked off this morning with an AMAZING Opening Plenary Session with a chat from James Makokis and Anthony Johnson who won the Amazing Race. They shared with us their journeys to represent Canada’s First Nations and two-spirit people.

Thank you so much for amping us up for a great conference!

Checked into ’s Annual Education Conference in the lovely city of Vancouver, BC and attended the Newer Professionals Reception. I ran into some friends from already.

Children’s Advocacy Center of Collin County is a nationally recognized nonprofit organization providing hope to children and families victimized by child abuse. CAC of Collin County has served over 75,000 children and families since the center opened in Plano in 1992. The centers offer family advocacy services, forensic interviews and counseling completely free to children and families. They also provide free necessities, clothing, toiletries, toys, and more for those in need. Got a decent workout in this morning at another service project! We helped with grass restoration efforts at Connemara Meadow Nature Preserve. Trying to do our part to help our planet.

Then, threw on a suit and rushed to UNT Dallas College of Law to help out with mock interviews for law students. I was in such a rush that I didn’t get any photos with my students, but I was very impressed with all of them. Good luck to everyone in your upcoming interviews!

It was a whirlwind of a first week, but I loved getting to witness our firm's values firsthand through an event with Conscious Capitalism, Inc. on my first day, our annual firm retreat last Friday, and a firm service project at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area (LLELA) on Saturday!

This meetup is for prelaw students and first year law students! Our guest speaker, Amanda Haverstick, is going to give you tips for establishing a strong foundation for your first year of law school and beyond. We'll go over some language that you need to succeed in law school. As a bonus, we'll also discuss what is law review and what it takes to make it onto law review. Amanda Haverstick is a 25-year BigLaw veteran who has pivoted to assisting students and junior attorneys. She is a law school coach and attorney writing trainer who helps her clients improve their writing for law school and beyond. Amanda attended Harvard University (BA, cm laude, 1991) and Boston College Law School (JD, summa cm laude, 1996), where she graded on to law review, was elected Executive Editor, and authored a published Note. Amanda has worked at top employment litigation firms in NYC and Philadelphia, and she also spent two years in-house at a Fortune 500 company. She and her husband Matt (a managing partner at a Philadelphia law firm) live in a suburb of Philadelphia and have three college-aged daughters.
