Lauren Sweeney Brown, Esq. Attorney advocating for workers and consumers who puts family first and helps clients do the same. Licensed in Pennsylvania, license pending in West Virginia.

Attorney and lifelong advocate for life’s underdogs. I fight for working people, consumers, and anyone facing an uphill battle against powerful interests. Before practicing law, I was an award-winning investigative journalist for local television—committed to uncovering the truth, amplifying unheard voices, and holding the powerful accountable. I still occasionally freelance for The New York Times

, fueled by a lasting passion for informing the public and telling stories that matter. Above all, I’m a proud wife and mother. Family comes first, and the role I cherish most is being there for the people I love. Everything I do—professionally and personally—is grounded in that purpose.

Big day for our baby girl.
She graduated her preschool class with the Ray of Sunshine award!
I'm so proud that she brought such a pleasant attitude to win over all her teachers.

Late on sharing this amazing initiative, but as they say better late than never.

Last month, it was incredible to see leaders from labor, environment, and faith pull together to raise awareness about the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of orphaned wells in this part of Appalachia.

(See : Abandoned and Orphan Wells | Department of Environmental Protection | Commonwealth of Pennsylvania https://lnkd.in/g98ZGFDP)

The Center for Coalfield Justice, AFL-CIO, United Mine Workers of America and leaders from the Catholic Faith hosted a panel on how their unlikely partnerships are bringing about solutions to this issue.

A new apprenticeship program to train workers on capping wells which will bring new jobs to this part of the state. The discussion focussed on grant funding initiatives to create these jobs to bring about environmental solutions.

However, I wondered how private land owners could be brought into this initiative? My family owns a farm not far from where this event took place and I couldn't help wondering how many orphaned wells may sit on our property that we don't know about? Could state and local governments create financial incentives for private landowners to be part of this initiative, too?

By the way -- thanks for the invite from Gavyn -- and let me know how I can be a resource to you in the future!

🚨 Big News for Pennsylvania’s First Responders!

A new Pennsylvania law that took effect this week expands workers’ compensation coverage for “mental-mental” claims — meaning police officers, firefighters, and EMS workers may now qualify for benefits related to post-traumatic stress injuries (PTSI) that result from repeated exposure to traumatic events.

In the past, many first responders were denied benefits for PTSD because such experiences were viewed as just “part of the job.” This law finally changes that.

I am officially licensed in West Virginia in addition to Pennsylvania.

I had the privilege of working for the West Virginia Attorney General's office a few summers ago and I learned just how many people in West Virginia need representation.

I am honored to be able to provide that representation to the beautiful people of my neighbor state.

Our floor is "Law-Va" theme was a big hit at the Downtown Washington PA - Washington Business District Authority trick or treat. I loved meeting so many members of our community and seeing all the great costumes! My kids had a blast too and got their picture in the Observer-Reporter , but listed them with them with the wrong last name!

I enjoy being a member of the local business and legal community and all the opportunities it brings to meet such wonderful people.

My sister in law takes trunk or treat seriously! Her "Floor is Lava" themed trunk was complete with a volcano that had smoke, lights, and lava themed music. It was the talk of the elementary school last night and we will have it back on display where the floor will be "Law-Va" on Saturday from 12-2! YCL Law will be among the businesses handing out goodies for the Downtown Washington PA - Washington Business District Authority city-wide trick or treat.
Stop by and see if you can jump through our legal obstacles to get a reward!
