I get asked all the time: “𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝐼 𝑘𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑏𝑒𝑓𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝐼 𝑚𝑜𝑣𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑇𝑢𝑐𝑠𝑜𝑛?”

So here’s what I actually tell people — the version you’re not going to find in a relocation guide.

🌵 Tucson is neighborhood-driven in a way most cities aren’t. Oro Valley, Catalina Foothills, Vail, Central Tucson — they don’t just look different. They feel completely different.

☀️ You’ll start planning your life around the weather — in the best way. Early hikes, patio dinners, monsoon evenings. The seasons here are real, just not the ones you’re used to.

🌄 The desert grows on you fast. You’ll go from seeing “brown” to seeing saguaros in bloom, mountain colors, wildlife, and some of the most stunning sunsets you’ve ever watched.

🤝 This city has a community feel that surprises people. It’s easier to build real connections here than in most places twice its size.

🌮 You’ll develop opinions about Mexican food, monsoon season, and mountain views. That’s just part of becoming a local.

My advice?

Don’t just choose a house. Choose the lifestyle and the area that actually fits how you want to live.

One of my favorite passions is to visit and highlight local businesses.

I had the opportunity to sit down with Chef Tyler Lapotosky .

Chef Tyler is the Chef de Cuisine at the Flying V restaurant at Lowes Ventana Canton Resort.

The Flying V has been a staple in Tucson's culinary scene for decades.

The restaurant was recently renovated and has revamped their menu to create an amazing dining experience with views of cascading waterfalls and sunsets over the Catalina Foothills.

The Flying V Restaurant will be open daily for dinner from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Reservations will be available via Resy.

My goal is to spotlight as many local businesses as I can to show off our amazing community and support our neighbors.
