REMINDER: If you're interested in City, County, and Local Government Law board certification, the application filing period runs from September 1 to October 31 to determine eligibility to sit for the May 2027 exam. Applications must be postmarked by October 31.

Only 297 lawyers are currently Florida Bar board-certified in City, County, and Local Government Law.

Board certification recognizes attorneys’ special knowledge, skills, and proficiency in various areas of law, and professionalism and ethics in practice. In addition to the comprehensive exam, each board-certified lawyer undergoes a rigorous peer-review process that assesses competence in a specialty field, professionalism, and ethics in the practice of law.

To identify those lawyers who practice city, county and local government law and have the special knowledge, skills, and proficiency to be properly identified to the public as board certified in city, county and local government law.

Nominations are due by September 28 for The Florida Bar’s 2027 Pro Bono Service Awards, recognizing lawyers, judges, law firms, and voluntary bar associations whose extraordinary commitment to pro bono service helps provide legal assistance to those who cannot afford it.

Presented annually by the Florida Supreme Court and The Florida Bar, the awards celebrate members of the legal profession whose dedication to serving others strengthens access to justice for Floridians in need.

The Florida Bar is accepting nominations for its 2027 Pro Bono Service Awards, which recognize lawyers, judges, law firms, and voluntary bar associations that have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to providing free legal services to those who cannot afford them until September 28. Maria focuses her practice on employment law and HR compliance.
