🌈 HAPPY PRIDE MONTH 🌈

At Birthing Brilliance Collective, we believe that every family deserves to be seen, respected, celebrated, and supported.

This month, we honor LGBTQIA+ individuals, parents, birthing people, and families whose love, resilience, and authenticity continue to shape stronger communities.

We recognize that equitable maternal health care, reproductive justice, and family support must include and affirm people of all identities. Pride is not just a celebration, it is a reminder that everyone deserves access to compassionate care, safe spaces, and the freedom to build their families with dignity.

We cannot have honest conversations about educational and maternal health disparities without acknowledging the role race and systemic inequities continue to play in the outcomes we see today. ✊🏾. .jamila.holcomb for the inspiration 🖤

Raise your hand if you’re a Black woman who’s tired of being expected to save everyone while nobody asks if you’re okay. 🙋🏾‍♀️

As a doula, advocate, leader, community worker, mother, friend, and sister—I pour into so many people.

I’m expected to answer the calls.
Solve the problems.
Carry the crisis.
Hold the space.

But who’s holding us?

Because being committed to the community doesn’t mean we should have to sacrifice ourselves to serve it.

Whew. Let’s talk about

Every birthing person deserves care that is respectful, informed, culturally responsive, and centered on their needs, not assumptions.

The “you’ll be fine” mentality. The dismissal of concerns. The lack of listening. The expectation that people should simply accept whatever happens to them during pregnancy and birth.

That’s the ick.

As someone who works alongside families every day, I know that being heard can change outcomes. Asking questions is not being difficult. Advocating for yourself is not being demanding. Wanting informed consent is not asking for too much.

We can do better, and families deserve better.

A new certification, but an even greater commitment. 💛✨ I’m officially certified in High-Risk Doula support! This achievement is especially meaningful because it directly aligns with the families and communities I serve. Every family deserves informed support, compassionate advocacy, and care that recognizes their unique journey , especially during high-risk pregnancies. I’m honored to continue expanding my knowledge so I can show up stronger, wiser, and better equipped for the work I love. The mission remains the same: supporting healthier pregnancies, healthier births, and healthier families. 🤍

My opponent has never been providers. My opponent is Black maternal health disparities. Black women are still dying at disproportionately higher rates, and too many families are leaving birth experiences feeling unheard, unseen, and unsupported. Birthing Brilliance exists to bridge the gap through education, advocacy, and empowering families with knowledge because every mother deserves safe, respectful care and every baby deserves a healthy beginning. 🤎

Inductions are becoming the “get me out of pregnancy” card… but at what cost? 👀 Every intervention can influence what comes next. Ask questions. Know your options. Informed decisions matter.
