The first 30 seconds by Ed Monk
The book I read on my summer vacation. A gift from a friend who knows me. Side note, when you select an instructor make sure you find one who is continually learning not just relying on their previous profession thinking it would be an easy retirement job.
The book is a great review of active shooter information taught by Armoured One, myself and others. It's great to see multiple people look at the same history and come to the same conclusion. It's horrible that most of the public is either ignorant or negligent of this information. Ed boils down the defensive problem to math. Ed says time and math, but time is a number so in the end it's just math. Not emotions, not hopes, not denial, not what we thought would happen, not what we pray will happen. There is evil in the world and at this time evil has its effect. Have you considered how evil it is to strangle your mother to get her guns to go shoot kids in a school so you will be famous? Rule #1 we don't ever mention the bastards name. Lets not give them any of the recognition they craved.
Ed's math taken from history is simple...
Elapsed Time by shots fired equals victims...

6minutes of unopposed active shooter is 36 victims
Cops arrive between minutes 4 and 8... IF they get called.
Even 4 minutes is too long.
What if they don't get called because you can't make the call...
Do you get the picture here?
If you want the number of victims to be in the single digits YOU have to respond in less than 30 seconds.
There is NO OTHER ANSWER.
Math shows the ridiculousness of the worse choices.
There is nothing political here, just math.
The first responders are the people present at first shot.
Even school resource officers, in the same school, burn clock getting to the shooter.

HAVE TO RESPOND RIGHT NOW.
Am I passionate about saving lives? You bet.
