"My husband purchased a Harley Davidson in 2011. He paid close to $25,000 for it, and it was just about paid off. While in the middle of moving, we left the motorcycle at his mom's summer home. When we went to retrieve it, it was gone and she had returned to her home in Florida! We reported it stolen, only to find out that the cosigner decided to take it back without notice. This left our hands tied; the police were no help as they both had claim to the Harley on paper ... but, my husband was primary owner, and had less than 1 year of payments left at $388 a month, while the cosigner only had the motorcycle for approximately 8 months and was not making any payments. The situation became very hostile and financially detrimental, as we did not have it in our possession. We called LegalShield. “On December 9 I cracked the screen on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8. When I contacted Verizon I was told by their representative I could take it to a store and get it replaced for ‘approximately $29.99’. When I got to the store I was told that they no longer have technicians in the stores, they don't know why I was told that, and that I would need to file an insurance claim to get my screen repaired.
When I contacted the insurance company (Asurion) they informed me there isn't a screen replacement available for my phone and that I would have to pay a $199 deductible to get the phone replaced. I contacted LegalShield, shared all of the information with them and they sent a letter to Verizon's legal department. I just got a call from my attorney saying Verizon called to say they will be giving me a $200 bill credit for the replacement of the phone.

"I ran into a huge pot-hole at a local home improvement store that did serious damage to the suspension on my truck. When I called the store and spoke to the manager, she was uninterested and rude - she actually asked, 'If it was that big, why didn't YOU see it?'. (Fact: after raining hard the night before, the pot-hole was filled with water.) The point is, I damaged my truck on their property because of their lack of maintenance in the parking lot. That manager tried ending the conversation by saying, 'Okay, I'll talk to someone about getting the pothole fixed.' When I asked about the damage to my truck, she took down my info and said she'd send it to the insurance department. Two weeks passed and I heard nothing so I called LegalShield and told my law firm what happened. My law firm called that home improvement store, spoke to management, and called me back to say their insurance company would call me within a few days (and to let them know if they didn't). That same day, their insurance agent called - I explained what happened, he told me to get a couple estimates and said he'd have a check in the mail within 3 days. "Before my mother passed away I needed legal advice. I called her attorney to ask questions. My mother was in hospice. I was going to pay him. But, he yelled at me when he found out he had not done the Power of Attorney or the Health Directive for her. I hung up. I never got the legal advice because I was too stressed and scared to call another attorney (not that we had done anything wrong). So, I ended up dealing with everything on my own. If your employees work more than 40 hours per 7-day workweek they may be entitled to overtime pay. New overtime rules were set to take effect late in 2016. Member Story -- Owner of Daycare:
“I am a single mom of 3 boys, and, wanting to raise my own children, I started a day care more than 20 years ago. I've been blessed with caring for many children over the years, but I NEVER expected what happened to me one day.
Back in November, I received a call late in the afternoon from one of my day care moms telling me that her 11-year old son had gone to the school counselor and said I had abused him, other children in our day care and my own 4-year old son. The counselor called the Dept. of Human Services to report me for abuse! The mother told me she didn't believe the accusations but that the school made it very clear that if she didn't pull her kids out of my day care immediately, they could go after her for not protecting her children. She did what they told her to. I was shocked and panicked. I'd cared for these children for 8 years and considered their mom one of my best friends.
The first thing I did was call LegalShield. Unfortunately, that Friday was Veteran's Day and it was 4:55pm - most of the attorneys in the office were gone. The gentleman who took my info told me an e-mail would be sent to the attorneys and I'd receive a call first thing Monday. My heart was in my throat. I had no idea how I'd get through an entire weekend with this dark cloud over my head.

For 3 months I held my breath, and at that moment I felt the air start to fill my lungs again while tears filled my eyes. "A couple of days ago I got a letter / bill for over $2072.68 from my insurance company, stating that I had to reimburse them for all of my son's ADHD medicines from 2016. Of course I almost went into a cardiac arrest, so I then placed a call to my law firm and they fired off a letter to my insurance company. Result: I just got a phone call saying that my account had been zeroed out, that they had committed an error and that they highly apologize that it didn't get taken care of sooner. "We'd leased a beautiful home in San Diego for two years, and made sure it was in excellent condition before moving out -- far better than when we moved in! During the walk-through with a leasing agent, she kept saying how great the house looked and thanked us several times. We handed her the keys and started the drive toward our new home in Austin, Texas. Within a week, the CA leasing company let us know they'd be returning our $3500 deposit LESS $1450 for the 'huge gouge in the rosewood floors of the dining room'. We responded that it must have happened after we gave the keys back and sent all photos we'd taken during the walk-through. We went round and round, and when they accused us of editing the time stamps on the photos, we decided to call LegalShield. Our new Texas Provider Firm forwarded our issue to the California Provider Firm, and a CA attorney called us back, had us send in everything to review, and that attorney fired off a 2 1/2 page letter to the leasing company, using all sorts of legalese and citing the hundreds of complaints against their leasing company from other tenants who didn't get their deposit back, either. One of my clients had been recently promoted to supervisor at the restaurant where she worked. The job came with a $2 per hour raise. Three pay periods went by and the company hadn't included her raise in her pay checks. They kept telling her that it would come soon. She finally called the law firm for advice. The attorney told her that if she continued to work without the raise in pay it would be an implicit agreement to continue working at the old wage. She took that information to her employer and a couple of days later she got $300 in back pay. Thanks LegalShield!

Member story of the day.

We just received a phone call from our law firm who has been assisting us with a legal issue over a security deposit since May of this year. We simply called each time we received a response that did not appear in our favor and asked for advice on what we should do. Mr. Andrews (our lawyer) kindly wrote letters on our behalf, the last stating that we were willing to take the company to court for double the amount of our $750 security deposit, in addition to court fees. I was literally going to call our law firm tomorrow asking if any response had been received when instead Mr. Andrews called us today reading an email from that company's attorney stating that they were willing to resolve the issue, a check had been mailed to us, and they would consider the matter resolved if we agreed not to proceed with any other legal action against the company.
We are honored and grateful for this membership and still pray that more people understand the value of knowing their legal rights and using LegalShield to do it!"
