I get asked pretty often what type of law that I practice.
Most of my practice is centered around probate-related matters—which are often things that come up during major life events: planning ahead, handling things after someone passes away, helping care for a loved one who needs some extra protection, or taking care of those legal loose ends that people aren’t always sure how to handle.
That primarily includes wills, trusts and estate planning, probate and estates, guardianships and conservatorships, name changes, and adoptions. However, I also handle quite a few other things, including deed preparation and property matters, evictions, collections, contracts, and various LLC and corporate matters.
One thing that is really important to me is being genuine, honest, and straightforward. I do my best to make the legal process feel a little less overwhelming. Legal paperwork and court procedures can sound a lot more complicated than they need to sometimes, and I try to explain things, answer questions, and help people figure out what actually needs to happen next. I believe in doing the best that I can do and take a lot of pride in the work that I do.
And if you aren’t sure whether what you need is something I handle, you can always ask. If I can help, I’m happy to—and if I can’t, I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction or to someone who can help.
I’m also very fortunate to practice alongside Jim Stanphill, who has been practicing law since 1983. I actually had the opportunity to work with Jim and learn from him before I ever became an attorney myself, which makes getting to practice together now pretty special. We bring very different personalities, styles, experiences, and ideas to the table, and I think we make a pretty good team! At the end of the day, though, we have the same goal: to help our clients and make the process a little easier.
