Running for office is a challenge, but a judicial race is a whole other type of challenge. Many voters will often miss the nonpartisan section entirely by not going down the ballot and not flipping the ballot over. For me, running in this race was a matter of responsibility towards the community, to talk about our legal system and to educate the public with regard to systemic issues.
I am absolutely delighted, and humbled, to have earned some 98,000 votes. It is incredible to see this type of support, in light of so many campaign challenges. This was an entirely grassroots campaign that knocked doors, made phone calls, stayed on the ground with the people, and moved within the community to educate, encourage, and empower. This was a clean people power vote and I am so proud of our team. I am so incredibly grateful to the many people who found the campaign (who I have yet to meet in person), picked it up and shared its message from community to community where I couldn’t get to. Your incredible efforts show the power of this campaign. From the bottom of my heart, I thank the voters of Macomb County for supporting this campaign.
On a sweet ending to the campaign last night, I just so happened to spend election day at my voting precinct in Sterling Heights. I had not planned this. I went to vote, it looked busy, so I stayed to talk with voters. Little did I know that I would have the pleasure of hanging out with Judge Ed Servitto for the next 8+ hours (along with other delightful candidate team members). Although he will be missed by many, the people have spoken and I ask you to join me in welcoming Anthony Servitto, as our next Circuit Court Judge for Macomb County. I take comfort in knowing he will serve with fairness and integrity.
Much love and peace to everyone.
