FALL 2022 ART SHOW CANCELED
We have unfortunate news to share with our artists in regards to the Art Fair At Queeny Park. The Greensfelder Recreation Center has been undergoing renovations since April 2021 and were currently scheduled to open June 1. Up until yesterday, we were consistently assured by Greensfelder staff that our show would be able to go forward as planned. Since that time, the facility has been vandalized twice and incurred thousands of dollars in damages. The damage and the construction delays related to supply chain issues, have put the facility way behind in its renovation plans.
Monday, June 13, we were informed that Greensfelder Recreational Center has cancelled all events through August and they could not give us a guarantee that we would be able to go forward with our show. The feasibility of proceeding with our show hinges on so many moving parts and this current information greatly increases the probability that our show dates will be canceled.
Our dilemma: Is it fair to the artists and all others involved, to plan a show with a “maybe it will happen or maybe it won’t happen” premise. So much of our planning and costs are incurred months ahead of the show. We have our artists, volunteers, and our organization’s wellbeing to consider. We feel it is not fiscally or emotionally responsible to keep moving forward with these plans based on “probably will be ready” or “we hope it will be ready” statements.
If we proceed with our plans, we will incur further expenses that we cannot recover. We will also be holding our artists and volunteers schedule’s hostage as we hope for the best. So it is with great reluctance, we must again cancel the Art Fair at Queeny Park. We will be informing the artists and refunding their application fees.
To say we are disappointed is an understatement. But we are artists and we are used to adversity, challenges and setbacks. We always seem to rise above and come out on the other side better and brighter than before. We want you to know that we are moving forward, we are having an April 2023 show and it will be an awesome event that will allow us to celebrate who we are, what we do and why we do it. HERE IS TO ART FAIR AT QUEENY PARK 2023!!!
