🚨 SCAM ALERT – PLEASE READ & SHARE 🚨

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of a jury duty scam currently targeting residents in our area.

Scammers are calling citizens and falsely identifying themselves as a Deputy or law enforcement officer, claiming the person has an active warrant for missing jury duty. Victims are then told they must pay approximately $3,000 and report to the Sheriff’s Office immediately or face arrest.

🚫 THIS IS A SCAM.

Please remember:
• We will NEVER call and demand money
• We will NEVER request payment to avoid arrest
• We will NEVER handle warrants or jury issues over the phone
• We will NOT ask for gift cards, wire transfers, or cash payments

If you receive a call like this:
✔ Hang up immediately
✔ Do not provide any personal information
✔ Contact the Sheriff’s Office directly using a verified phone number

⚠️ If you or someone you know has been contacted, please share this post to help prevent others from becoming victims.

Scammers rely on fear and urgency — stay informed and help spread the word.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol plans to crack down on distracted drivers on interstates and highways this weekend.

This marks the 10th year OHP and law agencies across the state have enforced the distracted driver law. They do it in honor of Trooper Nick Dees, who was killed by a driver texting through a construction zone.
