🚨 Important Update for SNAP / Food Assistance Recipients 🚨
If you or someone in your household receives benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, commonly known as food stamps), please read carefully:
🔍 What’s happening:
With the current federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has warned that there may not be sufficient funds to distribute full SNAP benefits for November 2025 if the shutdown continues.
Several states (including Texas) have already alerted recipients that unless federal appropriations are restored, benefits could be delayed
October benefits have been funded and should be available as issued, but the uncertainty starts beginning of November.
📌 What you can do:
Use any remaining balance on your EBT or benefit card — those funds are still good.
If you receive a notice from your state SNAP office about delay or suspension of benefits, keep it and note any instructions.
Ensure your contact information with your SNAP office is up to date (mailing address, phone, email) so you do not miss any important updates.
If possible, explore alternative food-assistance options or local food banks in the meantime in case of delay.
