**Hurricane Isaias Update – Destin, Florida | October 9, 2026**
Destin, Florida, is preparing for a serious hurricane, and this is one storm nobody along the Emerald Coast should take lightly.
Hurricane Isaias has strengthened into a dangerous Category 3 hurricane with sustained winds of 120 mph as it approaches the Florida Panhandle. Destin and Fort Walton Beach are under hurricane and storm surge warnings, with damaging winds, coastal flooding, heavy rainfall, and possible power outages expected.
Mandatory evacuations are in effect for designated coastal areas of Okaloosa County, including portions of Destin. Please follow local emergency officials and evacuation instructions.
For those of us who call Destin, Miramar Beach, Fort Walton Beach, Niceville, and Santa Rosa Beach home, protecting our families, neighbors, and communities is what matters most right now.
I've called this beautiful area home for many years, and I've seen firsthand how our Emerald Coast communities come together during difficult times.
Stay informed, stay prepared, check on your neighbors when it's safe, and please don't underestimate this storm.
**Stay safe, Destin. We'll get through this together.**
