A passing comment by a comedian the other day sent me down a fact-checking hole, and now I'm sitting here shaking my head in absolute amazement because IT'S ACTUALLY TRUE.

An August 7, 2023 study published in BMJ Sexual and Reproductive Health purports to be the first known study to use ACTUAL BLOOD to test the absorbency of period products.

Prior to this, studies had relied on a saline solution. Because, you know, a salt-water mixture bears SO MUCH FREAKING RESEMBLANCE TO MENSTRUAL BLOOD!

We’re not just talking about inconvenience here, although ‘fraud’ might be a more fitting term, considering the absorbency claims these yahoos make. More importantly, this has implications for the underdiagnosis of heavy menstrual bleeding, which can be a symptom of serious medical conditions.

Completely unrelated, I received a notice from FDA today that they had commissioned a study to evaluate metals in tampons.

I'm sorry, did you say METALS IN TAMPONS? WTAF?!

So, without further ado, here are two articles for your consideration:

1. Hora de contar la historia…

Todo comenzó el jueves por la noche con un dolor en el omóplato izquierdo, una sensación de opresión en el pecho (alta, a la altura de las clavículas), dolor en la mandíbula inferior y un aura ocular solo en el ojo izquierdo, además de un dolor de cabeza en la base del cráneo.

Con tantos "síntomas" al mismo tiempo, eran demasiados para ignorarlos.

El viernes por la mañana llamé a mi médico y me dijo que fuera a urgencias.

¡Solo tienes que decir "dolor en el pecho" y hay anuncios por altavoz y la gente aparece de la nada!

El electrocardiograma, las radiografías, las vías intravenosas y las muestras de sangre revelaron un nivel de troponina ligeramente elevado (63). Vivimos en un pueblo pequeño que actualmente no tiene cardiólogo, por lo que se organizó un transporte médico y me llevaron a la siguiente ciudad "más grande".

El seguimiento de troponina resultó en 73 y se programó el cateterismo para la mañana del sábado.

Resulta que tenía más del 90% de obstrucción en mis arterias descendente anterior izquierda y circunfleja, y me colocaron 3 stents, esquivando la bala de un infarto mayor.

Me harán un ecocardiograma por la mañana antes de enviarme a casa.

Por favor, tengan en cuenta que los síntomas de un ataque al corazón son diferentes en las mujeres que en los hombres.

Story time ….

It started Thursday night with a left shoulder blade ache, a tightness across my chest, (high, across my clavicles) a lower jaw ache and an ocular aura in my left eye only plus a headache at the base of my skull.

With so many “symptoms” at the same
time, it was just too many to ignore.

Friday morning I called my doctor and was told to go to the ER.

All you have to say is “chest pain” and there are PA announcements and people appear from thin air!

EKG, x-rays, IVs and blood samples returned a slightly elevated troponin level (63) We live in a small town that doesn’t currently have a cardiologist so medical transport was arranged and I was driven to the next “larger” town.

Follow-up troponin came in at 73 and the cath lab was scheduled for Saturday morning.

Turns out, I had 90% + blockage in my left anterior and circumflex arteries and got 3 stents placed, dodging the bullet of a major heart attack.

Will get an echocardiogram in the morning before they send me home.

Please be aware that symptoms of a heart attack are different for women that they are for men.

Quiet nights like this remind me that I live on the coast.

Too often, the sound of the waves doesn't even register; the tinnitus cacophony of a badly-tuned orchestra in my right ear overwhelms everything when there's nothing to fill the void.

But then, I'll hear/feel a "thump ... thud" and remember ... ocean.

And just like that, with the conscious recognition of outside sounds, the waves roar over the tinnitus for a few minutes of concentration, and it's just lovely!

For those passionately calling for Israel's capitulation, I have to wonder why you're not also calling for Hamas to release the hostages.

While I ponder that telling omission, I have a question for you. But first, let's set the scene.

While attending a peaceful concert, your daughter and her friends are attacked by an army of terrorists. Before she’s kidnapped and carried away to their base, she is forced to watch her friend being gang-r**ed, her breast cut off with a knife and played with like a football before she is shot in the back of the head while still being penetrated by a terrorist.

The terrorists murder, mutilate, and r**e over 1,400 people. They kidnap approximately 253 people, imprisoning them in tunnels beneath their city and civilian houses throughout the city.

You know that they have taken civilians, children, women, even babies.

You have seen videos of victims being dragged through the streets of the terrorists' city. Some of the victims are still alive, but dead or alive, they are all attacked and assaulted by the civilian population.

You have credible evidence that the terrorists are rapists.

Let this scenario sink in for a minute. Terrorists are holding your daughter, and the chances that she is being repeatedly r**ed are high. Very high.

So here's my question: What would you want your country to do to get your daughter back?

Asking for 19 women and two children.
