In a last major act as president, Barack Obama cut short the sentences of 330 federal inmates convicted of drug crimes on Thursday, bringing his bid to correct what he's called a systematic injustice to a climactic close.

With his final offer of clemency, Obama brought his total number of commutations granted to 1,715, more than any other president in U.S. history, the White House said. During his presidency Obama ordered free 568 inmates who had been sentenced to life in prison.

Way to go President Obama!

Vote Yes on Proposition 57
This increases parole and good behavior opportunities for felons convicted of nonviolent crimes and allows judges, not prosecutors, to decide whether to try certain juveniles as adults in court.

Vote Yes on Proposition 64
Controls, regulates, and taxes the sale and cultivation of ma*****na in California for the adults 21 and over. The disastrous war on drugs in California continues to ensnare thousands of people – particularly young people of color – in the criminal justice system every year, therefore, it is time to move from prohibition to regulation of ma*****na. The proposition also generates substantial revenue for drug education and for the communities most devastated by the war on drugs. Proposition 64 represents a significant drug law reform in California and invigorates the momentum for legalization in other states. The initiative would remove significant criminal penalties for ma*****na use, cultivation, and sale and by doing so also eliminate substantial collateral consequences that flow from arrests and criminal convictions.

Vote No on Proposition 66
Opposes changing the procedures governing state court appeals and petitions that challenge death penalty convictions and sentences, and would keep the current system in place. Proposition 66 is not the real reform our criminal justice system needs. It increases the risk that California executes an innocent person and removes protections for innocent people who have been wrongfully convicted, greatly increasing our risk of making an irreversible mistake. Proposition 66 increases taxpayer costs by tens of millions of dollars and creates a bureaucratic nightmare.

Vote Yes on Proposition 62
Repeals the death penalty and making life without the possibility of parole the maximum punishment for murder.

Vote Yes on Proposition 55
Extends the personal income tax increases on incomes over $250,000 approved in 2012 for 12 years in order to raise $8-11 billion a year that will go directly into a special fund that supports K-12 education and community colleges. Up to $2 billion a year will go to health care for low-income children, seniors, and their families.
