Hello! Hope everyone is safe and well.
Just wanted to share a quick and unfortunate story and offer few important tips to protect yourself and your vehicle.
A person I just spoke to damaged her vehicle and allowed her insurance to lapse while she was not driving it.
She eventually took her car to an uninsured mechanic and a while her car was there the shop burned to the ground.
She is now left with $10,000 debt on a car which was destroyed and little to no recourse against her mechanic.
Lessons:
1. Never let your insurance lapse when you take your car in for work. You never know what could happen. Allowing the insurance to lapse is very likely a violation of her financing agreement and she will now to deal with her lender.
2. Always take your car to a reputable and insured auto mechanic Had this person done so, her car would have likely been covered under the shops insurance policy.
