Today is Boston. And no matter where I am, part of me is always on that course.
I ran the Boston Marathon four times with Team Hoyt. Running alongside Dick Hoyt as he pushed his son changed the way I see everything. Because what I took from that experience is this: the finish line means more when you carry someone.
That’s the lesson I carry into every mediation. It’s never about me. It’s about the people in the room — their frustration, their fear, their need to be heard. My job is to stay in it with them, mile after mile, until we get somewhere they couldn’t get on their own.
Dick and Rick taught me that endurance is about showing up for someone else and refusing to quit on them.
Happy Marathon Monday. 🏃
