What is a Notary Public?
A Notary Public is an official of integrity appointed by state government, typically by the secretary of state, to serve as an impartial witness in the signing of important documents and administer oaths in certain situations.
What does a Notary Public notarize?
A Notary Public notarizes any document where the identity of the signer must be verified. This process helps prevent creation of fraudulent documents.
The Notary Public will ask the signer for a valid picture I.D. issued by a Government, entity with their signature, and a brief description of the signer.
