One of the most important parts of my role as a mediator happens before the mediation ever begins.

I make it a point to review the docket—sometimes it’s straightforward, other times it includes motions with valuable deposition testimony. I also reach out to counsel on both sides for a quick, no-charge pre-mediation call. Even five or ten minutes can give real insight into how the parties see the case.

If there’s a unique legal issue, I’ll research it so that when we sit down together, I’m ready to ask meaningful questions that help the parties weigh the risks and benefits of settlement versus litigation.
Being prepared allows me to do more than carry numbers back and forth—it helps create a space where the parties can make fully informed decisions about their own case.

One of the most rewarding parts of being a mediator is watching the process work.

So often, parties enter a mediation convinced they must have X, Y, or Z for the case to resolve. But as they begin to talk, listen, and truly engage with one another, something changes. The gap starts to close. Options emerge that no one imagined at the start of the day.

And more often than not, resolution is reached in a way the parties never thought possible when they first walked into the room.

That’s the power of mediation — helping people move from conflict to closure.

Most of my career has been focused in the personal injury field, so I often mediate cases involving car accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, and nursing home disputes. I also bring experience from litigating and trying commercial and business disputes—experience that helps me guide parties toward resolution in both injury and commercial cases.

At the end of the day, my goal is always the same: helping people bridge the gap from conflict to closure.

I became a full-time Florida Circuit Civil Court mediator because I’ve seen firsthand how mediation can turn conflict into closure.
