Yes I know it has been a while since I sent one of these. No excuse, I just let the time get away from me, but a recent case came up that points out why it is so important to keep your documents up to date. Now if you have not done your estate planning, why not? The case involves a family with several pieces of property, some in other states. We did the estate planning in 2005. They wanted to use their own notary (something I don’t recommend) so I sent the docs to them. I find out that none of the deeds I sent were ever recorded and they could not find them, so we don’t know if they were even signed. So, we must start over. The main lesson is at least checking your planning every 5 years. Nothing may need to be done but you can avoid these kinds of problems.
