This week we reviewed key concepts from the previous semester and introduce new topics for the current semester, focused on family-based immigration denials and immigration court proceedings.

► Review of Past Semester Concepts
We reviewed foundational concepts covered in the previous semester, including: history of US immigration laws and agencies; categories for entry like family, employment, business, humanitarian; differences between refugees and asylees; and family preference system with petition processes.

► Key topics for the current semester are:
✅ family visa denials and options like appeals/refiling
✅ notices to appear in immigration court and master calendar hearings
✅ building a global practice
✅ constructing sample applications
✅ understanding adjustment of status process
✅ and exploring employment/business visas.

► Legal Analysis Methodology
We worked through the 'IRAC' legal analysis methodology using sample case studies on family reunification and tech company visas. This covers: identifying the legal question, stating the rule, analyzing case facts, and concluding with a recommendation.

We walk through sample case studies, explain legal analysis using the 'IRAC' method, contrast temporary and permanent visas, and emphasize understanding agency roles and humanitarian options.

► Temporary Versus Permanent US Visas
We contrasted temporary, non-immigrant visas like H-1B, L-1, O-1 versus more permanent options like green cards and EB categories.

► Importance of Agencies and Humanitarian Options
We discussed transition strategies from temporary to permanent status. exploring humanitarian options like asylum before other paths for clients fleeing dangerous home country conditions.

► Homework:
Emphasis in understanding differences between key agencies like USCIS, ICE, CBP.
