Think you need 20% down and perfect credit to buy a home?
That myth keeps a lot of capable buyers stuck on the sidelines.
The truth? Most buyers put down somewhere between 3%–10%, depending on the loan program and their goals. There are also options for first-time buyers, veterans, educators, medical professionals — and more.
And when it comes to credit?
You don’t need a flawless score. Many conventional loans start around 620, and lenders look at your full financial picture — income, savings, employment history — not just one number.
The biggest mistake I see is waiting until everything feels “perfect” before talking to a lender.
Clarity comes first.
Perfection is not required.
If you’re curious where you stand, even just for planning purposes, I’m happy to connect you with trusted lenders who can give you real answers without pressure.
