As we recognize National Awareness Month, we want to offer an important reminder to parents, guardians, and caregivers: be diligent and stay aware of what your children are doing online.
The internet can be an incredible tool for learning, communication, and entertainment—but it can also expose children to dangers they may not recognize.
⚠️ Be aware of the risks, including:
• Online predators who may pretend to be someone they are not
• Cyberbullying and harmful online interactions
• Sharing personal information such as their school, address, phone number, or daily routine
• Location sharing through apps, photos, and social media posts
• Dangerous online challenges and trends
• Inappropriate content that may not be suitable for their age
• Scams and phishing attempts targeting children through games, social media, and messaging apps
• Strangers contacting children through gaming platforms and social media
• Pressure to send photos or private information
• Oversharing details about family members, schedules, or whereabouts
📱 Know the apps they’re using. Check their privacy settings. Talk openly about who they’re communicating with. Most importantly, make sure your child knows they can come to you if something online makes them uncomfortable or afraid.
A conversation today could help prevent a dangerous situation tomorrow. Let’s work together to keep our children safe—both online and offline. 💙
