We are proud to have Rissa as part of our team! Thank you, Rissa, for your dedicated work serving the people of Portsmouth!
On this , we are shining the spotlight on Rissa, who is wrapping up her first term of service in Virginia! Since starting her own recovery journey in 2022, Rissa discovered a passion for helping others in her community navigate substance use disorder. She is excited to complete her Peer Recovery Specialist certification and plans to continue her education to become a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor.
Rissa says she recovers out loud so that others don't have to suffer in silence: "I love having the ability to share my lived experience with someone that may need someone to relate with, who may be in need of inspiration or hope. I live to be that light for someone."
Thank you for all your work the past year, Rissa! We're looking forward to seeing you back for the 2026-27 service year!
