If your business imports goods, you could be eligible for tariff refunds—but navigating the paperwork is key.
A CAPE Declaration is the official CBP form used to identify shipments and request refunds for unlawful IEEPA tariffs. It allows importers to verify exactly what was paid and actively seek repayment.
Who needs to file? Generally, if you were the Importer of Record and your entries are unliquidated (or otherwise eligible for CBP’s automated refund process), a CAPE Declaration is required. For fully liquidated entries, a separate formal protest may be necessary instead.
Don’t leave potential refunds on the table because of complex filing requirements.
