I am relocating to Mazatlán in late February and have been searching for a place to call home for four years. Upon researching Mazatlán, I discovered Carmen and Joel Heger, English and Spanish-speaking realtors who responded promptly to my email inquiry. A Zoom meeting was arranged, during which we discussed my requirements for a house or condo, specifically one-level housing or a main bedroom on the first floor within my budget. The virtual meeting alleviated any concerns I had about meeting them in person. I subsequently traveled to Mazatlán and spent a week exploring potential properties with Carmen and Joel. They also arranged ground transportation, which facilitated a smooth arrival. During my visit, they showcased numerous properties that met my accessibility needs, exceeding my expectations. Over the course of several days, they introduced me to Mazatlán's culture and unique beach vibe. Although I did not anticipate finding my ideal home on the first trip, I fell in love with a single-story, two-bedroom, one-bath property located 30 minutes from the beach. This property met my requirements of being close enough to the sea while minimizing exposure to corrosive salt air. Carmen and Joel Heger guided me through the home-buying process in Mexico, explaining the necessary steps and paperwork. As fellow expats, they understood the complexities of the process and provided invaluable assistance. Upon returning to Mazatlán five weeks later, I was greeted by my driver, Karla, and proceeded with Carmen and Joel's assistance to obtain my temporary residency, RFC registration, and open a local bank account. Throughout the process, they demonstrated exceptional knowledge and professionalism, going above and beyond to ensure a smooth transaction.
