Please contact your State Assembly legislator and ask them to support or co-sponsor bill A4184 - Zackhary's Law. Here's how:

1) Go to http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/SelectMun.asp and find your representative by choosing your municipality.

2) Check off the members of the Assembly in your district.

3) Send your own note or feel free to use the form letter below:

I am writing today to express my support for A4184, Zackhary's Law, which would establish an alert system in the cases of hit and run incidents to help law enforcement apprehend drivers faster and serve as a deterrent for those who choose to drive away from the scene of an accident. Similar legislation has been successful in California and Colorado in catching drivers, and I hope it can be implemented in New Jersey.

The bill is named after 21-year-old Zackhary Simmons from Ramsey, who was killed due to a hit and run collision in Hoboken, New Jersey in late June.

I am respectfully requesting that you co-sponsor or pledge your support for this bill, which would go a long way in helping law enforcement and encouraging drivers to stay and help an injured pedestrian rather than fleeing the scene.

Thank you!
