👑 DANCING, DRESS-UP, AND COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS! 💃🕺

In honor of National Senior Center Month, Hillsborough County, Florida Government Aging Services department brought back its signature Senior Prom for the first time since the pandemic!

Over 450 seniors representing 21 local activity and dining centers gathered at The Regent in Riverview for a night of reconnection, dancing, and global celebration.

🌍 This year’s theme, "Royalty From All Over the World," saw couples stepping out in incredible attire honoring various cultures and historical eras - competing for the titles of Prom King and Queen!

Events like this highlight exactly why Senior Centers are so vital across Florida. They aren’t just places to gather - they are places where older adults reclaim moments of joy, combat social isolation, and stay actively connected.

What a fantastic time last week at the Florida Conference on Aging hosted by Florida Council on Aging! ☀️✨

From inspiring keynote speakers and dynamic workshops to connecting with dedicated aging-service professionals across the state, it was an incredible event!

A huge highlight of the conference was presenting the 2026 Florence R. Goldmann Award on behalf of the Florida Association of Senior Centers (FASC) to the Ruskin Senior Center from Hillsborough County, Florida Government! 🏆🎉

Congratulations to the entire Ruskin team! Thank you to everyone who made this year's FCOA conference so special. 🌟👏

⚡️ SENIORS UNITE! ⚡️

Who says superheroes only wear capes? Recently, over 400 energetic seniors (ages 50+) showed us that the real superpowered heroes of Florida are right in our senior centers! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

Hillsborough County, Florida Government Aging Services branch hosted their epic annual Brain & Body Challenge, and the energy was absolutely electric! Participants dressed up as their favorite heroes and villains, going head-to-head in physical challenges (like penalty kicks and basketball free throws) and mind-boggling brain games (like speed puzzle solving and trivia).

A massive round of applause to this year's top-performing super-squads:

We are proud to call her our Vice President 🏆❤️

During Women’s History Month, the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office proudly recognizes Latoya Fryson, a dedicated servant leader whose passion for people and community continues to make a lasting impact.

Mrs. Fryson serves as the Director of Elder Affairs for Gadsden County, Florida, where she works tirelessly to support and advocate for the county’s senior citizens. Known for her compassionate spirit and heart for service, she is committed to ensuring seniors remain connected, supported, and valued.

Her leadership, dedication to community, and love for her work have made her a respected leader throughout Gadsden County.

Beyond her professional role, Latoya is a devoted wife and proud mother of one daughter.

The Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office thanks Latoya Fryson for her continued commitment to serving our mature senior citizens and strengthening our community.

What an incredible and energizing week in Pensacola! 🌊

FASC proudly wrapped up our 2026 Annual Training at the Bayview Senior Center, where senior center professionals from across Florida gathered to learn, collaborate, and strengthen our collective impact.

Since Wednesday afternoon, our sessions focused on:
• Building resilient volunteer programs
• Understanding and addressing compassion fatigue among staff
• Developing meaningful intergenerational programming
• Partnering strategically with community organizations — with special attention to Pensacola’s performing arts agencies
• The Program Lab — a hands-on exchange where participants shared their program calendars and detailed offerings, sparking practical ideas and peer-to-peer innovation

A heartfelt thank you to Pensacola Little Theatre for the backstage tour and to Historic Pensacola for the engaging historic walking tour. These experiences highlighted the power of local partnerships and creative collaboration.

We leave Pensacola inspired, equipped with new strategies, and connected more strongly than ever. Together, we continue building resilient senior centers and vibrant communities across Florida. 💙
