I have always had a fascination with real estate (studied for my Real Estate License); however, what I really found interesting were all the photos of houses for sale and how some of them were disappointing. I would see houses for sale in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and you could not see the kitchen counters, size of the rooms, or floor plan because of all the clutter. That is what made m
e decide to go into staging. I knew that if I was shopping online so were hundreds of other people and the homeowner was letting cash fly out the door. When Covid-19 hit, and I was out of a job it was the time to reinvent my self and my life. Staging had always been the plan when I retired because at heart, I am a work-acholic and could not sit around. Staging provides an outlet for my creative side and it helps people. I have seen how staging can increase the value of the home firsthand when I sold our house. Seeing what staging can do for the value of your home is especially important – a friend of ours had bought a home that needed work, which is what they wanted, it was going to be their forever home. However, because of circumstances beyond their control they had to sell so they could move to another state. The improvements they made were substantial and needed, but when it came time to sell, they were unwilling to make the rest of the improvements. When the property sold it was under the asking price and my friends were extremely disappointed. Had they hired a stager who could guide them towards making the needed improvements it would have been a better outcome for the homeowner.
