Speaker King Electronic Repair LLC The Speaker King story

My name is Jon Garee, the owner of Speaker King Electronic Repair LLC. Times were tough. We struggled financially.

Growing up in the 1960s and 1970s, all I wanted to do was play my drums. With headphones on, I played along with the radio to what is now known as "classic rock" in my parent's basement, dreaming of someday making it big. Struggling to get through school, I discovered electronics in high school and it was the one thing I could excel at! Playing in a lot of garage bands, my band mates and I did no

t have money to buy new guitar amps and PA equipment, so I quickly learned to repair any equipment we could get our hands on. In 1981, I went on to college and got two degrees, one in Electronic Engineering Technology and the other in Electro-mechanical Engineering Technology. I then got a job at the Newark Air Force Station (Base) repairing electronic test equipment. In 1989, the band Torn Flesh released the album Crux of the Mosh on Narrowpath Records/Pure Metal Records. After the release of the album, the original drummer had quit the band. I was asked to join Torn Flesh and tour with them to promote their new album. Even though the album was released all over the world, the band never received any money from the album sales, or any royalties from the song, "Happy Birthday" that was played on many radio stations across the country. We could not afford a lawyer or decent PA equipment. So, we gathered what equipment we could, and I would repair anything that was broken to keep us playing as we toured the U.S. We were poor starving musicians, but we had the time of our lives! I have been repairing guitar amps, PA equipment, keyboards, and other electronic equipment part time all my adult life. While going to work daily, performing a job I did not particularly like, I used to dream about what it would be like to open my own business and repair music and electronic equipment full-time. I had the opportunity to return to college in 2010 and get a degree in Business Management Technology. This has given me the foundation and the courage to create Speaker King Electronic Repair LLC in Newark, Ohio. I have done repairs for those as far North as Mt. Vernon, East as far as Music Go Round in Greenfield and Kenosha Wisconsin, South as far as BBB Music in Chillicothe, and West repairing for Music Go Round in Gahanna, Music Go Round in Columbus, and reconing speakers for Walker Music. Call me today at 740-344-5157 to discuss your repair needs!
