It was a pleasure to sponsor Corporate Counsel Women of Color’s ( ) 20th Annual Career Strategies Conference, and to make meaningful connections with incredible women in law. Milbank hosted the session “Hot Topics in Global Practice: Infrastructure, Cross Border M+A, and Other Topics,” which featured UCB Pharma’s Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Denelle Waynick Johnson, along with Milbank partner Iliana Ongun and special counsel Séverine Losembe. Thank you, Denelle, for sharing your wealth of experience and insight in what was an engaging and informative conversation.

In addition, Iliana participated on the panel, “Setting Boundaries: Navigating Work and Personal Life Demands Effectively,” alongside Claudia Lewis, Keisha N. Stanford and Angela J.

Lastly, Milbank’s Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer Mikeisha Anderson Jones, Esq., CDP moderated the Chief Diversity Officer Summit panel “Reimagining and Recalibrating Diversity, Equity and Inclusion: Critical Skills and Competencies for the Path Forward” with co-panelists Lia Dorsey, Michelle Lopez, Sharifa A. Anderson and Virginia G. Essandoh, JD.

Milbank attorneys Katherine Hannah, Amanda Borges, Sofia Duclaud, Dani Lee Sauer and Angelica Body-Lawson were also in attendance.

As part of the firm’s celebration of , Milbank hosted Pilar Ramos, TelevisaUnivision’s (“Univision”) Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, for a discussion at our Hudson Yards office. Univision is the world’s leading Spanish-language media and content company. Milbank partner Iliana Ongun moderated the discussion, and Milbank’s Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, Jana Simon, gave introductory remarks. Pilar shared the milestones from her prolific career, and offered advice on sharing authentic stories of identity and heritage in the professional world. She also spoke about the importance of finding mentors, building bridges across communities, and fostering genuine points of connection between colleagues. After the discussion, we enjoyed a reception featuring cuisine from local vendors such as and Sophie’s Cuban.

Milbank hosts summer associates in four of its offices: New York, Los Angeles, Washington, DC, and London. In each office, we provide summer associates with partner and associate mentors, substantive work assignments, and intensive trainings that give summers a deeper understanding of our practice areas, client needs, and how we serve them. By the end of the 10-week program, summer associates leave us with new and sharpened skills that position them for success as a first-year associate.
