Our client entered Rikers Island with a long-standing glaucoma condition that required medical treatment. The City denied him the care he needed and, as a result, he went blind.

The City’s response? Claim he was already blind, litigate the case for years, and lowball our Client at every settlement opportunity.

We did not back down, knowing our Client deserved greater consideration and compensation for what he endured.

Finally - on the eve of trial and out of time - the City increased their offer significantly to meet our demand.

Konta Georges & Buza are proud to announce a major resolution of a years-long and high-profile Construction Law matter involving Omnibuild Construction and its founder, John Mingione, that will result in a misdemeanor for Mr. Mingione and ALL CHARGES DISMISSED against Omnibuild Construction Co.

Omnibuild and Mingione were indicted in 2024 on charges stemming from an alleged $86M Ponzi scheme orchestrated by Nir Meir and HFZ Capital Group. From the beginning, Omnibuild and its employees have stood firm, asserting that they, too, had been victims of the scheme. Nonetheless, the Omnibuild defendants faced numerous serious felony counts that could have shut down the company, and sent Mr. Mingione to jail.

The deal reached with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office last week ensures that Mr. Mingione will end up with a non-financial misdemeanor, bringing meaningful closure to a case that once carried significant felony exposure. Further, the dismissal of charges against Omnibuild will allow the company to move forward with its business intact, protecting the livelihoods of its many employees, and closing the door on years of uncertainty.

We believe this is a just result that reflects the facts, preserves the company’s integrity, and allows all parties to turn the page.

Over the weekend, one of our cases was front page news:

In 2024, our client, Maile Bartow, was assaulted in the back of a yellow cab by a driver who, among other violations, did not have a legally-required partition or camera. Although she promptly filed a police report, the driver was not arrested for another month, and only after he had assaulted another woman in his cab.

Last week, we filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Ms. Bartow’s behalf. We will now move forward seeking justice against the driver, the cab’s medallion owner, and the NYC TLC.

What these women experienced at the hands of their driver - while vulnerable and defenseless in his back seat - is every New Yorker’s worst nightmare. We look forward to helping Ms. Bartow obtain much-deserved compensation that will help her rebuild her life in the aftermath of the assault.

Sharing some recent press about a lawsuit filed on behalf of two courageous clients who have come forward against former Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Mike Jeffries and his associates.

The suit alleges that, between 2010 and 2015, the defendants groomed, drugged, trafficked, and s*xually assaulted the victims - who were aspiring models - under the false promise of employment opportunities. As a result, the victims experienced physical pain and mental anguish that persists to this day.

In October, Jeffries and his cronies were indicted on federal charges of s*x trafficking and interstate prostitution, and they currently face claims of abuse from 40 different men in both state and federal court.

The severity of these allegations cannot be overstated, and we are committed to seeking justice for our clients.

This weekend, the NY Post featured a story about one of our brave clients in the wake of an unthinkable (and preventable) tragedy. In 2023, Marie Delille’s life changed forever when her husband and son were killed inside their apartment building by a neighbor with a violent history. The wrongful death suit we have filed on her behalf alleges that the building ignored multiple warnings regarding the neighbor’s history of aggressive and dangerous behavior, and failed to protect its tenants. Moreover, the building leaked surveillance footage of the murder to the press, significantly adding to the surviving family members’ distress.

We are in awe of Marie’s courage in telling her story, and committed to getting her justice.
