Peña has represented individuals, institutions, businesses and
corporations over the years in both state and federal courts and in administrative law and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. The firm’s vision has always been to build a law firm dedicated to the legal needs of the community with a legal team that could speak the language of its clientele. Peña commitment with his community goes beyond pro bono legal services as he has devoted substantial resources to charitable activities whether it be teaching citizenship classes, participating as a church volunteer, or leading fundraising activities. Chametla an 18-year-old undocumented Mexican immigrant, who was fatally shot by a former detective while working at the counter of a Food Mart Store. Initially, there were no charges filed against the former police detective. But Mr. Peña lead a coalition with Tepeyac, Ambassador of Mexico Arturo Sarukhan, elected officials, churches and the community, so the former detective was indicted, convicted and jailed. His pro bono practices not only strengthens his bonds to the communities in which he practices but also makes a profound difference in the lives of his clients and friend organizations. In the summer of 2000, he met Joel Magallan in “Don Francisco Presenta”, an Univision national TV program, and he started collaborating with Tepeyac immediately, sponsoring the Mexican Folkloric Ballet Presentation in the Manhattan Center. Later that year, he spear headed Tepeyac’s first ever fundraising event and held it at his home.
