Sometimes the Paper of record gets it pretty much correct, although this summary will no doubt raise as many questions as it answers. Good thing you have me. The only intellectual property I don't handle professionally is patents, but you can always give me a jingle about that, too.

Fair Use is a diffuse doctrine in copyright law - overused, badly applied, and ill understood. But this is a remarkably interesting and apt example. McMansion Hell used real estate photographs protected by copyright, and Zillow sent a cease & desist letter. But Zillow is dead wrong.

McMansion Hell chronicled the many failings of gigantic American houses. Its author, Kate Wagner, shut down the blog Monday after receiving a cease-and-desist letter from Zillow.

Dear Facebook Friends:

Once again, your IP attorney pal is seeing the "Notice to Facebook" posts popping up again - i.e. the ones that say "The violation of privacy can be punished by law (UCC 1-308- 1 1 308-103 and the Rome Statute)." There is no Rome Statute. The UCC has nothing to do with privacy or intellectual property. It is all a garbled fiction. PLEASE don't give Zuckerberg's legal dep't yet another SMH moment, although I'm sure they're just bored with this incantation by now.
