Missed dinner with out-of-town friends but elated with the result of my efforts:

Some of the 13 clients for whom I drafted free wills at the Manhattan Family Justice Center, love seeing the smiles on these proud women! Amazed that one of my clients limped in on crutches from Queens, she was so motivated to protect her young daughter with a guardianship nomination and testamentary trust. Grateful for a city that puts its resources to work for the least supported in our community and charities like Working in Support of Education that lead the way in financial literacy for all. Loved cranking out $13,000 worth of services in 150 minutes, with the skilled help of three others!

As the Trump Administration advised its employees to not renew its memberships in the American Bar Association, I thought that it would be a good day to check my status, proud to have presented a CLE with Peter Arcese to its Alternative Dispute Resolution Section and checked on my membership, read about our adherence to the basic four principles of law here:

One of many details that I look after for my clients is the custody of their prior wills and retrieving them from former counsel. Nowadays I only keep wills for clients when they choose me as their executor (a rare occurrence though some of my survivors do ask me to act on their behalf), I believe that my clients own the work product and should not consider me as the safekeeper of that work.

Thrilled to read about this recognition, back in 2011 Professor Adair Lummis brought me to Hartford International University for Religion and Peace to assist in a course geared to attracting and retaining youth and young adults in religious communities, more than half of our 25 students were Muslim chaplains, it was one of the rich teaching experiences of my life. Jan Fuller invited me to join her at the Hollins University Jesse Ball DuPont Chapel even longer ago and it has been a joy to watch her ministry among us unfold and flourish, congratulations!
