🚨 Form I-539 changes today, September 15.

The 08/28/24 edition must be postmarked or electronically submitted before September 15, 2026.

Beginning September 15, USCIS will accept only the new 09/15/26 edition. There is no grace period.

If you’re preparing to file Form I-539, make sure you’re using the correct edition before you submit.

🚨 USCIS has reached the H-2B cap for the first half of FY 2027.

September 4, 2026 was the final receipt date for new cap-subject H-2B petitions requesting an employment start date before April 1, 2027.

Some cap-exempt H-2B petitions may still be eligible to move forward.

🚨 Important USCIS Update for Asylum Applicants

Beginning August 21, 2026, USCIS is applying a stricter standard for requests to reschedule affirmative asylum interviews.

Applicants will now need to show “exceptional circumstances” — not simply “good cause.” USCIS is also eliminating the prior Failure to Appear Warning notice after a missed interview.

Another key change: supporting evidence should be submitted at least 14 calendar days before the interview date.

If you have a pending asylum application, treat your interview date and filing deadlines seriously. If an emergency arises, document it immediately and seek legal guidance as soon as possible.
