⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️
Scams have no age limit, and fraudsters will use any tactic to trick someone into falling for their schemes. Recently, deputies took two reports involving scams where victims were asked to pay in Bitcoin.
In the first case, a victim received a call from someone posing as a "law enforcement" officer, claiming she had a warrant for her arrest. To avoid being taken into custody, she was told to deposit money into a Bitcoin ATM. Thankfully, she realized it was a scam just in time.
In the second case, a victim believed he was making a legitimate investment, but there were several red flags along the way. The final warning sign came when he was asked to withdraw large sums from his bank account and deposit them into a Bitcoin ATM. Sadly, he lost several thousand dollars.
While scammers use different approaches, their goal is always the same – to steal your money. Protect yourself from scams by following these steps:
• Stop – Don't rush into decisions.
• Call – Talk to a friend, family member, or your local law enforcement.
• Ask Questions – Verify the details before you act.
• Think Before You Pay – Don't make decisions based on fear or pressure.
Spread the word to keep your loved ones safe.

Not every online job is legit. And sadly, many new (and even experienced) service providers have fallen victim to scam jobs that looked “too good to be true.”
Because guess what? They were.
Let’s talk...
Here are some job titles scammers love to use just to sound official and lure you in:
Data Entry Clerk
Remote Typist
Survey Taker
Online Chat Support
Virtual receptionist
Convert word to pdf
Personal Virtual Assistant (with vague job description)
Email Handling Job
Social Media Helper (not Manager, just “helper” 🙄)
These roles can exist in real form, but scammers love them because they sound simple, low-risk, and attract beginners.
Red Flags to Watch Out For:
• They ask you to pay to get the job
• No company profile or verifiable online presence
• They want to interview you on Telegram or WhatsApp only
• The offer is too good "Earn $500/day working 1 hour"
• They get defensive or rush you when you ask questions
• Job details are vague or poorly written
Before you apply, ask yourself:
1. Is this coming from a verified platform?
2. Can I find this company online, with real reviews and a working website?
3. Is the job description clear and professional?
4. Do I have mutuals or mentors I can check with?
Check your go-to, moreover if you’re using the common sites like Upwork, Fiverr etc.
Your go-to checklist should always include:
1. LinkedIn or company profile
2. Past hiring record or feedback
3. Job platform reviews (Upwork, Fiverr, OnlineJobs, etc.)
4. A second opinion from someone already working online
Remember: Opportunities are everywhere , but so are traps.
Stay sharp, ask questions, and protect your skills and energy.

These ruthless fraudsters targeted vulnerable elderly Americans with sophisticated phone scams, stealing life savings and causing untold financial and emotional harm.

For years, these overseas operations exploited weak enforcement and operated with near impunity. No longer.
