If a conservation warden rings your doorbell and asks to talk, and you know why the officer is there, it’s probably time to come clean. Deer hunting this fall? Know where to dispose of your deer carcass waste and help slow the spread of CWD.

Once hunters have processed their harvested deer, they can safely dispose of deer carcass waste in designated dumpsters provided by the DNR and our partners, or at a landfill or transfer station that accepts deer carcass waste.

Properly disposing of the leftover carcass helps slow the spread of disease by removing potentially infected deer carcass waste from the landscape which can be a source for CWD transmission.

Find carcass disposal locations near you: https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/wildlifehabitat/carcass.html.

Note: Check back throughout the season as additional disposal options may be added, especially as it gets closer to the gun deer season.

Would be nice if Wisconsin did this.

Antlers, horns, hides and skulls that were confiscated by FWP enforcement will be auctioned on Sept. 25 at the National Auction House in Billings. Items include 50 big horn sheep skulls, 390-plus-inch bull elk, moose, deer, elk, bear, mountain goats, mountain lions, martins, antelope, bobcats and more.

Most of the items come from poaching incidents. Montana statute requires FWP to sell seized items at public auction. This includes all birds, animals, fish, heads, hides, teeth or other parts of any animal other than a grizzly bear. When a carcass is confiscated, FWP donates the meat to a charitable organization and removes the antlers to be sold at auction. Doors open at 9 a.m. for inspection, and the live auction begins at 11 a.m. The National Auction House is located at 3625 South 56th Street West in Billings. Read more at https://buff.ly/3Eh9WgS
