1) My current term as judge is through 2026. I filed to run for election to an eight-year term as Superior Court Judge beginning in 2027. I am honored to be serving by appointment through 2026 and would be grateful for the opportunity to continue this work. Please vote March 3rd.

July 1, 1776 was the first vote on national independence at the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia. The motion (the Lee Resolution) carried 9-2. The next day another vote was taken, with 12 delegations voting in favor (NY abstained.. whatever). As far as John Adams was concerned, "the second day of July 1776 will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America." He considered it a done deal, telling his wife "I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival."

On July 4, 1776, after 2 days of edits, the D of I was adopted. It was signed on August 2, 1776. So enjoy your independence day, whether it be July 1st, 2nd, 4th ...... or August 2nd.

Of note, Vermont historians claim they were never a colony of Great Britain, therefore they didn't need to declare their independence. I love Vermont...

We have two locations. Our main office in Morganton is located at 305 E. Union Street in the courtyard of city hall directly across from Bucks Pizza. Our Hickory location is at 316 4th Street NW, and it is next door to Oakwood Elementary School.
