Mistakes that can VOID your document -

1). Signing too early.
2). Using whiteout.
3). Printing your document on the back of another document (reusing paper).
4). Printing on letter size paper when your document needs to be on legal size paper.

What is the difference between an Acknowledgement and a Jurat?

An Acknowledgement verifies your identity.
A Jurat is where you SWEAR OR AFFIRM that the contents of the document is true, accurate or valid.

Usually your document will have the specific wording already printed on the document but in some cases you will need a loose leaf document or an additional stamp added.

You will want to know which you need before you meet with your notary. If you do not know, just ask your lawyer/financial person/person who drafted your document. Notaries do not choose for you.

Do not give yourself anxiety over needing something notarized.

Here is what to expect at your notary appointment.

1). The notary checks ID to make sure it is VALID. It must have your picture, physical description, your signature and a serial number. (Drivers License is best but you can use your Passport).

2). The notary confirms that you are willing to sign and you know what you are signing.

3). The notary checks the document to make sure it is completely filled in with no blank spots. (we do not care what is in the document, we are not reading it).

4). We fill in our Journal, you sign on your line, and put you right thumb print next to it.

5). The notary has you sign the document.

6). The notary fills in the notarial area, signs and stamps the document.

>Pay the notary what they quoted and get a receipt if you need it<

Most signings only take a few minutes and you are on your way.
