Having an LLC is one thing. Signing like one is another. 👀

One of the smallest details in a contract can raise a pretty important question: who is actually agreeing to this?

You personally? Your company? Both?

And before you assume the LLC’s name somewhere on the page answers that question… keep reading. 😅

The details matter. Especially before you sign.

Save this one for the next time a contract lands in your inbox.

Someone asked me this during my Q&A:
“I have a young child. What should I be doing to protect him and my family?”

And honestly, this is one of the most important estate planning questions a parent can ask.

Because planning for minor children isn’t only about what you leave them.

It’s also about who you choose to care for them, who you trust to manage what you leave behind, and how you want that inheritance handled.

Those are decisions you get to make now, instead of leaving someone else to figure them out later.

Your kids shouldn’t have to figure out the plan you never made. ☝🏽

Save this one for later or send it to a parent who needs the reminder.

Turning 18 comes with a lot more legal independence than most people realize.

And while estate planning probably isn’t at the top of your list at 18, 25, or even 35, these documents aren’t just about death. They’re about making sure the right people can step in if you ever can’t make certain decisions for yourself.

You don’t need to know all the legal jargon. But you should know these documents exist. ☝🏽

Because estate planning isn’t only about what happens after you’re gone. It’s about protecting you while you’re here, too.

A lot of people think estate planning starts and ends with a Will.

But some of the most important planning has nothing to do with what happens after you die. It’s about making sure the right people can step in, make decisions, and help manage your affairs if there ever comes a time when you can’t do those things yourself.

A Will matters. It just doesn’t do every job.

Estate planning isn’t only about what happens after you’re gone. It’s also about protecting you while you’re here.

A lot of business owners know exactly who they want to “leave the business to.”

But that’s only part of the question.

If you were suddenly unavailable tomorrow, could that person actually step in today?

Knowing the business, inheriting an ownership interest, having access to critical information, and having the legal authority to make decisions are not necessarily the same thing.

A real succession plan has to account for the gap between who you want in charge and who can actually keep the business moving.

Because protecting what you’ve built isn’t only about where it goes someday. It’s also about whether it can keep working without you.

An LLC can create an important layer of separation between you and your business.

But that separation shouldn’t exist only on paper.

How you handle the business day-to-day matters, especially when those decisions are later being examined in litigation.

And no, a few questionable charges don’t automatically mean the corporate veil gets pierced. Florida law requires much more than that.

But if someone starts digging through your company’s records, bank statements, contracts and transactions, you want the story they tell to match the business structure you created.

Form the entity. Then operate like one.

Filing an LLC is easy. Maintaining the separation it was created to provide takes a little more intention.

The way you handle money, sign agreements, use company assets, and document important decisions all tells a story about how your business actually operates.

Because there’s a difference between having a business entity on paper and actually treating your business like a separate entity.

So, how would your business do on the VFL Business Separation Test? 👀

Save this one and take another look at how you’re operating behind the scenes.

A Will is an important estate planning tool, BUT understanding what it doesn’t do is just as important as understanding what it does.

Estate planning isn’t just about having documents in place. It’s about making sure those documents, your assets, and the way everything is structured actually work together the way you intend.

And that’s exactly why simply saying, “I have a Will, so I’m good” doesn’t always tell the whole story.

Making the law make sense. ⚖️

Most people think estate planning is something you do once you’ve built significant wealth.

The truth is, it’s about something much more important.

It’s about making sure the people you love aren’t left making impossible decisions during an already difficult time. It’s about having a plan in place if you’re ever unable to make decisions for yourself. And it’s about protecting the family, business, and future you’ve worked so hard to build.

These are conversations many people put off, not because they don’t care, but because they don’t know where to start.

A little planning today can make a big difference tomorrow.

Helping families and business owners protect what matters most.
