Parent Your Parents USA

Parent Your Parents USA Parent Your Parents (PYP) to assist Seniors and their families through the overly complicated process of becoming "elderly".

Parent Your Parents was born out of the journey H. Frances Reaves and her family traveled once their mother became too demented to live with their father. It began with the move from their Houston home to Atlanta where they lived in two separate facilities until her Mother’s death. This experience taught her that most seniors in the United States are ignored by society, the government, business an

d, sadly, their children. Most children of elderly parents don’t know how many benefits and resources are available for their parents or ailing family members.

On this Memorial Day, we take time to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we cherish, and we are grateful.

Below is the photo and obituary of my cousin, Major General George A. Aiken, who's combat service was in Vietnam, where he became one of the many who suffered from non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, caused by Agent Orange.

We wish you a meaningful Memorial Day.

Marriage does not automatically give one spouse the legal authority to handle the other’s financial or healthcare decisions 💭

In Florida, a power of attorney is a separate legal document, and having one in place can help couples prepare for illness, incapacity, or other unexpected situations. This blog explains why planning ahead matters and how the right documents can help avoid added stress later.

Let’s talk about something we *don’t* talk about enough: s*x and aging.

I wrote this on Mother’s Day, which naturally got me thinking about how women become mothers… and yes, s*x is usually involved! But this isn’t about babies — it’s about celebrating the joy of intimacy later in life, without fear of pregnancy or kids barging in.

Here’s the truth:
S*x after 50, 60, 70 — even 80 — is absolutely alive and well. Just because we look older doesn’t mean desire disappears. In fact, senior communities report *plenty* of activity… and plenty of STDs. Yep, really.

With modern help — lubricants, medications, toys — seniors are enjoying intimacy more confidently than ever. And why shouldn’t they? If it feels good, enjoy it!

A few fun (and eye‑opening) realities:
• STDs are on the rise in senior communities — safe s*x still matters!
• No pregnancy worries, but condoms are still your friend if you have multiple partners.
• Studies show 50% of adults 57–75 and 33% of adults 75–85 are having regular s*x.
• One hilarious story: a woman called the nurse thinking she was having a heart attack… turns out, it was an or**sm. The clue? She wasn’t in pain.

Why keep “using it”? Because the benefits are real:
• Better sleep
• Less stress
• Exercise (yes, it counts!)
• Better heart health
• Stronger immune system
• Better bladder control
• Higher libido
• And an overall happier mood

The only caveat? You’ve got to stay fit enough to enjoy it. That doesn’t mean running marathons — walking 2–3 miles a few times a week does wonders. Bonus points if you walk with your partner… or your future partner.

Bottom line:
Walking, sweating, s*x — all great for your heart, your mood, and your health. And for women, the benefits of a fulfilling s*x life get even better with age.

Like any reward, you’ve got to work at it. Fortunately… that part is fun.

“Boomers Booming: How to Thrive After Sixty Five” offers Boomers and succeeding generations a fresh, positive perspective on living life after sixty.

The genesis of this book, company, and movement comes from a three-year journey with her parents at the end of their lives. During that time, she had a ringside seat to the treatment of “seniors.”

There is no 501(c)(3) that deals with the issues of growing old. There is no 800 number to call when you have questions about your options if circumstances change. More alarming is how the “senior industry” takes advantage of our older population’s ignorance.

That is what motivated her to write this book.

During the process, she realized that our culture often paints seniors as second-class citizens—when in reality, they are wise, experienced people who are a source of guidance and counsel.

This perspective is both professional and deeply personal. She watched her parents enter this stage of life and understood that, without proper guidance, they could have lost everything. She also continues to navigate this reality with a husband diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

I recently lost a dear friend. Even when you know it’s coming, loss never feels easy. As we gathered to honor her—friends, caretakers, neighbors—one person was missing: her.

Someone there said something that has stayed with me:

“Let’s do the wake while we’re awake.”

We so often wait until someone is gone to tell the stories they would have loved, share the gratitude they deserved, or give the hugs they would have cherished. But as we get older, we have something rare and precious: time. Time to celebrate the people we love with the people they love.

My family learned this early. We celebrated my parents at 70, 80, and 90—big milestone gatherings full of stories, toasts, and laughter. The image below is of my dad's 90th birthday party (Dad is in the first row, third from the left). Those memories became priceless as their health declined. When they passed, the room was filled with genuine laughter because we had already celebrated them while they were living.

That’s the magic of honoring someone early: the memories are shared, not imagined. The gratitude is spoken, not assumed.

I plan to attend all of my own “Celebrations of Life” long before my funeral—and I hope you’ll think about doing the same.

Milestone birthdays are perfect moments to start. Don’t wait to say the words, tell the stories, or raise the glass.

Plan the party. Celebrate the moment.
And whenever you can… do the wake while you’re awake.
