U.S. Citizen Born in Mexico Charged with Naturalization Fraud for S*x Crimes
Breaking News—Anibal Rio Lavias, 30, a U.S. citizen born in Mexico, has been indicted for naturalization fraud because he lied about his sexual crimes against children while applying for U.S. citizenship.
Lavias became a naturalized U.S. citizen on May 4, 2018.
But during the naturalization process with USCIS, he failed to disclose his sexual offenses between February 2018 and February 2023, or that the victim was only 5 years old when the abuse began.
USCIS was unaware of Lavias' crimes before granting him citizenship because he was not arrested until after he naturalized.
However, on March 19, 2024, Lavias pleaded guilty to these crimes and was sentenced to between 300 and 420 months in jail.
Moreover, now that USCIS knows all about this guy and his crimes, Lavias faces up to 20 years in prison and revocation of his U.S. citizenship.

I fully support revoking the U.S. citizenship of criminals and fraudsters like this and hope to see a lot more of it in the coming years, but let me know what you think in the comments below.
