⏪ Across Texas in the 1960s, legal aid programs were being created by local poverty lawyers to address the growing need for civil legal aid. In 1970, our predecessor, Texas Rural Legal Aid, was born.

The injustices of today are not different from those of the past. Low-income Texans are still fighting the civil legal system, still fighting to exercise their rights.

Even 55 years later, we must actively and continuously pursue justice. The good news, though, is that we've got experience on our side.

We've come a loooong way. And there's still more to do. But for this moment, let's remember the advocates that came before us. Come along and meditate on the history of Texas RioGrande Legal Aid with us. It's more storied than you'd expect!

Who were the folks who propelled legal aid in South Texas forward? What were their names? How has legal aid dealt with funding cuts in the past? What are we doing differently? What's stayed the same?

The Center Point Disaster Recovery Center has added in person resources that include muck outs, mold remediation, emergency funding, and the process to move forward and into rebuilding with the proper process. We will be open this Wednesday through Saturday 10to 2pm.
