My TEDx talk is officially live.

A few years ago, I never imagined I would stand on a TEDx stage sharing an idea that has been forming throughout my career, my leadership journey, and my experiences.

Happy Anniversary to Residence by Ross 🎉

This video takes me back to 2023 — the moment we were officially recognized as a licensed general contractor in the state of Tennessee and awarded a $780,000 builder limit. At the time, it felt huge to us… because it was.

Since then, Rod, Darby, and I have dedicated ourselves fully to building this company with intention, sacrifice, and relentless commitment. We stepped away from corporate comfort and poured everything into creating something we could truly be proud of.

In February 2026, our builder limit increased to $2.1 million.

What once started as vision, faith, and long nights has continued to grow into something much bigger than ourselves. And the most rewarding part is knowing we built it brick by brick, client by client, lesson by lesson.

We are still growing.
Still learning.
Still building.

And this is only the beginning.

People often assume that once you become a General Contractor, you stop learning.

The truth is… the deeper I go into this industry, the more I realize how much there still is to learn.

Today, Rod was teaching me how to measure block accurately, check material counts, and better understand the details behind the work happening in the field.

And honestly, moments like this matter to me.

Because in a male-dominated industry, credibility is not built by titles alone.
You have to be able to speak the language of the field.
Understand the materials.
Understand the labor.
Understand the process.

As we continue scaling Residence by Ross, I never want to become so far removed from the work that I lose touch with the people actually building it.

I want to understand our foremen.
I want to understand our subcontractors.
I want to be able to step into the field when needed.
And I want to continue earning the respect of the crews we lead.

There’s a difference between managing construction…
and truly understanding what it takes to build.

Being educated in the classroom is valuable.
But some lessons can only be learned with dust on your boots and your hands in the work.

And I’m still learning every day.

Progress update from our Mt. Juliet project.

We’re deep in the trim-out phase now, and cabinetry installation is officially underway. This is the stage where the structure starts developing personality. The craftsmanship becomes visible. The details begin speaking for themselves.

What once existed as plans, selections, and vision boards is now becoming a finished experience for the homeowner.

One thing I’ve learned in construction:
The difference between average and exceptional is usually hidden in the finishing details.

That’s the standard we build with at Residence by Ross.

I meticulously oversee the creation of a digital twin of the client and my father's vision for duration of the project. We showcase today how tagable completion of a project 9 to 12 months down the line is achievable.
